We're very proud to have been awarded the 'public prize for best scientific documentary' at the CineGlobe international festival for short film and scientific documentaries! For our 'nanocheese' video

http://www.cineglobe.ch/2010/

5 days, 78 films, 15 science documentaries, held at CERN in Geneva.

Thanks for everyone who voted for us!

Just a quick note about an awesome javascript to put structures in your websites: TwistyMol

And here some example related to the n2h project (more or less) -feel free to rotate and zoom-in/out using your mouse!

Benzene, the molecule we want to detect:

by simply writing in your web-source: < div id="benzene" height="200" width="200">
< script src="http://cactus.nci.nih.gov/chemical/structure/benzene/twirl?div_id=benzene" type="text/javascript">

Also, you can use InChI format to make structures that are not in their database. For example a piece of graphene:

by typing< div id="graphene" height="200" width="200">
< script src="http://cactus.nci.nih.gov/chemical/structure/InChI=1S/C58/c1-3-23-15-27-19-29-17-26-10-8-22-12-14-34-32-6-2-4-24-16-28-20-30-18-25-9-7-21-11-13-33-31(5-1)35(23)47-41(27)51-43(29)50-40(26)38(22)46(34)54-48(36(24)32)42(28)52-44(30)49-39(25)37(21)45(33)53(47)55(49)57(51)58(52)56(50)54/twirl?div_id=graphene" type="text/javascript">

At to finish...C60, because it is cool!

PS. Does anyone know the InChI formula for a nanotube? Is that even possible to write?

So - what did you think? We have our last meeting in March where we'll be doing some filming - do you have suggestions of what you'd
like to see? Was it an interesting project? What could we have done better? What should we do next? Please let us know! We'll try
and respond in the last videos... Either email me directly (see links on the left) or go to youtube.com/nano2hybrids and leave a comment there...
Thanks! Chris

How were toxic gases like benzene detected? We visit a chemical plant in Spain and talk with the safety experts, learn about canaries and japanese mice, and the future of new gas detectors using the latest nanotechnology. But what's the most sensitive detector we have at the moment?
